IPB lights ‘Solidarity Tree’ in Christmas Lighting Ceremony

The Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB) held a Christmas Lighting Ceremony on December 12, 2023. IPB staff, families, and friends witnessed the lighting of the IPB Christmas tree, also dubbed the ‘Solidarity Tree’.

The IPB Solidarity Tree, which serves as the main attraction at the IPB Triangle, is made up of various recycled materials and stands around 20 feet tall in its spot. It is hoped to inspire harmony and highlight the joy of the Christmas season.

CAFS Dean Elpidio Agbisit, Jr. and IPB Director Fe de la Cueva each expressed their message of support, gratitude, and Christmas greetings during the ceremony.

IPB band The Breeders and staff Ms. Ria Gapaz serenaded the audience with Christmas carols. The program, hosted by Mr. Yron Retuta, also featured raffle prizes and the much-awaited lighting countdown.

The ceremony is the first ever of its kind to be held in IPB history and is set to become a Christmas highlight in IPB in the coming years.

The IPB Christmas lights are open until 9PM during the holiday season. (Juvelle P. Villanueva)
